Local Contractor Part of Historic Egyptian Theater Remodel

  

Long Beach, CA - AWS Construction Services has been selected to project team for the the remodel of historic Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, California.

Dick Dadourian, president of AWS, a demolition and environmental remediation firm states that "it's always exciting to be part of a project of this kind; there's a buzz on the job site and a sense that your involved with history, and helping the community.

The Egyptian Theater, built in 1922, was the site of glamorous motion picture premieres. The theater had been remodeled over the years until it's demise and eventual closure five years ago. American Cinematheque has taken on the major undertaking of remodeling the theater to its original 1922 architecture.

AWS's expertise in selective demolition and toxics abatement coupled with it's past experience of safe, quality work make it a key member of the project team, which is headed by The Ratkovich Company, the project's construction manager. "A project like this can be challenging because you must preserve the historical parts of the theater while you demo the rest. I does have it's rewarding moments. Like the uncovering of the original 1922 ticket windows that were covered up during remodels many, many years ago", says Dadourian. The renovated Egyptian Theater is scheduled to reopen New Year's eve.
